Michelle Lavin

~ Owner/Piano and Voice Instructor ~

Michelle Lavin is a music educator in Barrington, Rhode Island. She is the founder of Michelle Lavin Music, an independent music school where she teaches private and group piano, voice, music theory, and improvisation to children and adults. 

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Rhode Island College. She is a classically trained pianist who has studied piano and musical literacy since the age of seven. Michelle’s childhood piano instructor, Al Conte, infused a love and passion for the piano which inspired her to pursue a career in music. During her undergraduate years, Michelle’s concentration was piano and music education with a secondary focus in vocal studies. She further developed her piano technique and performance skills under the tutelage of Dr. Judith Lynn Stillman and Stephen Martorella. Michelle also studied voice with Georgette Hutchins. During her time at RIC, Michelle had the privilege of studying under the choral direction of Dr. Ed Markward and Dr. Theresa Coffman. 

Michelle has been a piano instructor for over 19 years and a vocal coach for 15. She has built home and traveling teaching studios in both Barrington, Rhode Island and Loveland, Colorado. Michelle has taught students of all ages including adults and individuals with special needs. In addition to classical music, she enjoys teaching Pop, Blues and Jazz, Broadway, Rock, and Folk genres of music. Michelle develops and directs programs for students to enhance their music education. Such programs include music camps, ensembles, and masterclasses. 

Michelle is currently a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Rhode Island Music Teachers Association. While residing in Loveland, Colorado she was an active member of the Colorado Music Teachers Association and the Loveland Area Music Teachers Association where she attended many seminars and continuing education workshops. Such workshops included teaching techniques, improvisation, student motivation, studio management and more. 

Michelle has performed in many vocal and choral groups, theatre productions, and bands. She is currently a member of Ragged Company, a local acoustic group that features rich vocal harmonies, blues harmonica, and guitar.  

Michelle lives in Barrington, RI with her husband, Joe, two daughters, Kylie and Rhianna, and a Great Dane named Colonel. 


Yuri Son

~ Piano ~

Yuri Son is a music teacher, piano instructor, and classical pianist originally from South Korea. She began studying music at age 5. In her early years, she was an adventurous musician, and studied various instruments including piano, organ, violin and flute. She started playing the piano at church at the age of 12.

Yuri followed her passion for music as well as piano at Cheongju University in South Korea. She was interested in music education and started teaching private lessons to students during her freshman year. She was awarded multiple scholarships during her sophomore and junior year based on her academic achievements. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and with that she received her teacher’s certificate.

After graduation, she continued teaching piano and music theory at Hunmin Music Academy for 3 years. During her tenure at the academy, she trained many young pianists and was awarded excellence in teaching from Dong-Ah Music Publication Inc.(2010-2011) and The Association of Artistic Education(2011).

Her musical journey continued in the U.S. in 2013. She has taught students of all ages and all skill levels from beginner to advanced.


Alexus Lee

~ Piano, Voice, Musical Theater Prep, Songwriting ~

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Alexus Lee has always had big dreams and a big voice to match. As a child Alexus studied violin and piano, but by the age of nine she had discovered her voice and performing quickly became her passion. In high school, Alexus held the lead role in the annual Musical Theatre production as well as a lead role in the chamber choir which performed in numerous venues all over Rhode Island. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2013 with a Bachelors in Music Business and Vocal Performance, Alexus proved ready to share her talents with the world. Her recent collaboration with the Boston bread music duo Kings Dead has certainly been a great indication, with Alexus providing her trademark vocals on such fan favorites as Simple Times, and Shooting Star (for which she penned the chorus). Her contributions to these songs were instrumental in the albums success. (Reaching #11 on iTunes and also earning a spot on the Billboard 200). Today you can find Alexus writing and recording music out of her home studio in Riverside, or performing in numerous venues on the East Coast as she continues living out her passion for music.

Max Littman

~ Voice, Piano, Musical Theater Audition Prep ~

Max Littman is a student in his final year at the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Music Education. Max has been studying voice for 11 years under Ellie Escher, Gene-Marie Callahan, and currently René De La Garza. He has performed in operas, musical theater productions, choral ensembles, and a cappella groups. Max possesses a deep-abiding love of and enthusiasm for music, which he hopes to instill in his students. His kind, patient temperament lends itself well to the supportive environment he strives to create in his teaching. Max is a resident of Barrington, and in his spare time enjoys reading. He credits his high school choral director, Stephen Sands, for inspiring him to become a music educator, and credits his parents for first inspiring his love of all things musical.

Rob Perry

~ Percussion ~

Rob Perry has been playing and teaching drums and percussion of all styles for over 22 years.  A native Rhode Islander, Rob is a graduate of Middletown High School.  He attended the University of New Hampshire and played with the UNH Wildcat Marching Band, Symphonic Band and Pep Band.  Rob has performed with the Navy Band Northeast, Salve Regina University Community Band, the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife and Drum Corps, Middlesex County Volunteer Fife and Drum Corps and the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band.  Rob is well versed in drum set as well.  His band Bubblegum Villains toured southern New England for three years playing original hits and unique cover songs.  For the last 14 years Rob has taught in after school and summer camp programs, churches, nonprofit organizations, two high school drum lines, and private lessons.  Rob currently competes in the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band Grade IV and is the Drum Sgt and playing instructor for the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band Grade V. 

Danni Cauley

~ Director/Teacher of East Bay Music Together ~

Danni Cauley is a Soprano with 20 years of voice teaching experience, ages elementary through adult. She earned a Bachelor in Voice Performance from the University of Alabama and Master in Voice Performance from the University of Texas. In addition, she has studied Opera at Brevard Summer Music Center, was a member of the Austin Lyric Opera Young Artist Program, and has had extensive experience with internationally respected coaches and teachers. Most recently she performed in the BSO/Tanglewood Festival Chorus. She has maintained a private studio and taught Music Together in Barrington for 10 years and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.


Justin Burde

~ Group Guitar and Ukulele ~

Born and raised in Rhode Island,  Justin is a graduate of Salve Regina with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. He is currently in his 3rd year as the music educator at Primrose Hill School Elementary School in Barrington. Justin strives everyday to bring joy, fun and a love of music to his classroom. Among his responsibilities are 3rd grade Ukulele and Recorder Ensembles, and the 3rd grade chorus, which has performed at the Rhode Island State House 2 years in a row under his leadership. They are looking forward to a third! Recently, Justin has performed with the Chorus of Westerly singing at Fenway Park and on tour in Germany singing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Matthew Dill

~ Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Music Theory, Songwriting ~

 A summa cum laude graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Matt Dill is a seasoned music instructor who has taught students of all levels and backgrounds including over ten years of teaching at Providence College.  He is also an accomplished singer/songwriter whose music has been placed in television shows for networks like MTV, VH1, Bravo, A&E etc.  Now teaching at The Artist’s Exchange, The Philharmonic Music School, and Michelle Lavin Music, Matt is offering private instrumental instruction for guitar and bass students.  He is also offering private lessons in music theory, improvisation and songwriting to all instrumentalists and aspiring musicians.  Group Rock Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble instruction coming soon.
